Gran Sabana |
After a tough climb of over 1000 meters we emerged out of the jungle onto a sparsely vegetated plateau known as the Gran Sabana. |
Although it is barren it has a dramatic beauty and enormous skies. |
Racing the rain. |
Gran Sabana is plagued with tiny gnats called jejenes and by these giant grasshoppers. This one had to be removed from Alvaro’s bike before we could continue. |
Despite the gnats, the cooler temperatures made camping more comfortable and there were some fantastic spots for camping. |
Our friend Alvaro tried never to use his brakes on the down hills. Crazy guy clocked up almost 50 MPH on this stretch. |
