We left the coast briefly to visit a fellow cyclist, Chris, who is
living in San Jose. He took us to the student hangouts for pizza and
beer - a welcome change from chicken and rice. |

| Close to San Jose is Braulio Carrillo National Park which
preserves a beautiful area of virgin rainforest. |

relative of the raccoon shown here and a sloth sleeping in the trees. |
