From the plains, we descended to the Orinoco river valley. This is the only bridge which
crosses the river. |

Unfortunately bicycles are not permitted to cross this bridge. The military
arranged a lift across for us in the back of a pick-up owned by a friendly
family. |

| We arrived in Cuidad Bolivar as the sun was setting.
This is the view of the Orinoco River and the bridge from the City. Very
dramatic with these stormy skies. As we were checking into a hotel it started
pouring with rain and didn’t stop for at least 12 hours. We were pleased we weren't cycling through it. |
