| We cycled with Dave between Whitehorse and Watson Lake. He was close to the end of his trip cycling the range of the Pacific salmon as part of his work to raise awareness about salmon conservation issues. He invited us to visit him at his home on the Queen Charlotte Islands. |

| The Queen Charlotte Islands are home to the Haida indigenous people, famous for their carved and painted canoes. |

| Equally as impressive are the beautiful forests and strikingly tall trees from which they are carved. |

| The islands receive a staggering amount of rainfall per year. On one of the three days we were there it didn’t rain and we were told we were very fortunate. This is our rare glimpse of blue skies. |

| We stayed with Dave’s sister, Sarah, for most of our visit except for one night when we stayed at the beachfront Hilton with Dave’s friend Julie. It was lovely to be able to get up and wander down to the beach before breakfast. |
